Consumer Christmas Party Because the winter holidays are a difficult time of the year for many of our consumers, the NEGC, in coordination with the ALNEGC, hosts an annual Christmas party. In anticipation of this event, ALNEGC Service volunteers use donated funds to purchase more than 150 gifts for consumers. They are prepared for distribution at the Christmas party during an annual "Wrap Party," in which spouses and children often participate. Our volunteers also coordinate a Christmas Stocking Project so that each child will have their own stocking. In addition, we donate dozens of Christmas cookies to be distributed to our guests. In mid-December, ALNEGC volunteers serve a catered lunch at the party, which also features music, dancing, and a visit from Santa. For many consumers, this is their only holiday celebration. Although it takes place at a very busy time of the year, many members find that their participation in this special event is a uniquely rewarding reminder of the true spirit of the holidays.
